Site Prep Snapshot: A dedicated 20-amp power circuit and a standard fresh water spigot within 100 feet are the two most critical requirements for a successful setup.

1. Electrical Power Requirements

Luxury restroom trailers are like small houses; they need reliable power for lights, pumps, A/C, and heating. A standard household outlet is often not enough.

  • Dedicated 20-Amp Circuit: Each trailer typically requires at least one (sometimes two for larger units) dedicated 20-amp circuit. This means nothing else—no DJ equipment, catering ovens, or bounce house blowers—can be plugged into that same circuit breaker.
  • Heavy-Duty Extension Cords: We provide the necessary power cords. If you must use your own, it must be a 12-gauge, heavy-duty outdoor cord and should not exceed 100 feet to prevent voltage drop that can damage trailer components.
  • Standard Outlet Style: Most trailers connect to a standard 3-prong Edison plug (NEMA 5-15 or 5-20). Some larger units may require a specialized twist-lock connection, which we will specify.

2. Water Supply Connection

For flushing toilets and running sinks, a continuous water supply is best.

  • Standard Garden Hose Spigot: The trailer connects via a standard 3/4" garden hose connection. The water source should be within 100 feet of the trailer's placement area. We provide the necessary commercial-grade hoses.
  • Adequate Water Pressure: Standard residential water pressure (40-60 PSI) is sufficient.
  • No Water Source? No Problem: For off-grid locations, we can fill the trailer's on-board fresh water tank. *Note: This option requires electricity to run the on-board water pump and has a limited capacity.*

3. Generator Guide for Off-Grid Events

Hosting a wedding in a field or a festival in a park with no power? You'll need a generator.

  • Generator Sizing: A minimum of a 3,500-watt (3.5 kW) generator is typically required for smaller trailers. Larger trailers running A/C may need 6,000-7,000+ watts.
  • Inverter vs. Standard: We strongly recommend an inverter generator. They provide "clean" power that is safe for the trailer's sensitive electronic control boards and are much quieter, which is crucial for events.
  • Rent from Us: Don't guess. We can provide the perfectly sized, quiet, and full-of-fuel generator for your rental, taking the guesswork out of the equation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I just use a long orange extension cord I have in my garage?

A: Likely not. Most standard household extension cords are 16-gauge, which is too thin. Using one can cause voltage to drop, leading to dim lights, tripping breakers, or even damage to the trailer's A/C unit. You must use a 12-gauge or thicker cord, which we can provide.

Q: What happens if the power goes out during my event?

A: Without power, the lights, A/C, and heating will not work. More importantly, if the trailer is running off its on-board water tank, the water pump will not function, meaning toilets won't flush and sinks won't run. A reliable power source is critical.

Q: How close does the trailer need to be to the house or power source?

A: We recommend being within 100 feet of both the power outlet and the water spigot. Going beyond this distance requires specialized, ultra-heavy-gauge cords to prevent power issues, and may reduce water pressure.
