Multi-Day Event Restroom Planning Guide
Festivals, county fairs, and sports tournaments present unique sanitation challenges. Use this guide to master servicing schedules, peak-day ratios, and traffic flow to keep your NJ event clean from Friday load-in to Sunday load-out.
The 3 Pillars of Multi-Day Success
1. Plan for "Peak" Attendance
Don't calculate units based on your average daily attendance. If Saturday is your biggest day with 5,000 people, you need enough units for 5,000 people—even if Friday only has 2,000. Under-planning for the peak creates a deficit you can't recover from.
2. The "Invisible" Service Schedule
For multi-day events, pumping must happen when guests aren't there. We typically schedule service routes between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM. Ensure your site layout leaves "service lanes" so trucks can reach every unit without crossing pedestrian zones.
3. Redundancy is Key
Units fill up unevenly. The restrooms near the main stage will fill 3x faster than the entrance units. Plan to rotate your usage or add 10% "overflow" units in high-traffic zones to prevent bottlenecks during headliner sets.
How Many Units Do You Need? (The Multi-Day Math)
For events lasting longer than 4 hours per day, the standard "1 per 100" rule is often insufficient. Use these adjusted ratios for multi-day planning:
| Scenario | Recommended Ratio | Service Frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Festival (No Alcohol) | 1 Unit per 75-100 People | Daily (Overnight) |
| Concert w/ Alcohol & Food | 1 Unit per 50-75 People | Daily + Mid-Day Check |
| Camping Festival (24hr Access) | 1 Unit per 50 People | Twice Daily (AM/PM) |
*Note: ADA regulations typically require at least 5% of your total fleet to be wheelchair accessible.
