Portable Toilet Odor Control & Cleanliness Guide

Nobody wants a bad restroom experience. The #1 concern for event planners and site managers is "Will it smell?" The answer should be NO. With the right equipment, placement, and service schedule, portable restrooms can stay fresh and pleasant.

At Pottys Plus, we don't just "drop and go." We use a scientific approach to odor control involving specialized blue chemicals, strategic ventilation, and rigorous cleaning protocols.

The Science of Clean

🧪 Blue Chemistry

We use a powerful biocide "Blue Liquid" that breaks down waste and neutralizes odor bacteria instantly.

🌬️ Ventilation

Our units feature advanced chimney vents that pull odors up and out, keeping the interior fresh.

🧼 Hygiene

Adding Handwash Stations encourages cleanliness and reduces germ spread.

📍 Pro Placement Tips for Odor Control
  • Seek Shade: Direct sunlight "bakes" the unit, increasing odor. Place units under trees or in building shadows whenever possible.
  • Wind Direction: Position units downwind from food and gathering areas.
  • Level Ground: Prevents pooling and ensures the tank vents operate correctly.

Cleanliness FAQs

How often should units be cleaned?
For events, units are cleaned before delivery. For multi-day events or construction, we recommend 1x weekly service as a standard. High-traffic sites may require 2x or 3x weekly service to maintain freshness.
Does the "Blue Liquid" stain?
The solution is contained safely within the tank. However, if a unit is tipped over or vandalized, it can stain. Our technicians handle it carefully during service to prevent spills.
What if a unit starts smelling during my event?
If odor becomes an issue, it usually means the tank is nearing capacity. We offer emergency pump-out services for an additional fee if usage was higher than expected.
